The Galaxy S4 Mini comes with 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED screen with 256 pixels per inch and Gorilla Glass.^[3] It also includes aSnapdragon 400 SoC with 1.7 GHz Krait 300 CPU and Adreno 305 GPU, IR blaster for WatchON app (can be used as a TV remote), FM Radio and 8GB of internal storage. It lacks a notification LED light, 13MP camera and large 5 inch screen found in the Galaxy S4. It ships with Android 4.2.2 and Samsung's TouchWiz Nature UX. The camera app lacks some of the modes from the Galaxy S4. TheChatON app has basic features which are auto friends registration, text chat, and multimedia deliver, and put new features which are My Page, voice/video chat, and translate. The main function of ChatON is divided into Multimedia, Group Chat, Trunk, and Animation Message. ChatON can send text, picture, video, and audio as multimedia. Users use the personal profile into My Page. They can create group chat rooms just by selecting more than 2 buddies. All the contents that have been shared in each chat is saved into each trunk. Animation Message turns some simple drawing and stamping into short moving videos.

There are three variants of the S4 Mini such as the 3G model, the Dual SIM model and the LTE model. The LTE model comes withNear field communication (NFC) connectivity built into the 1900mAh battery and 4G LTE connectivity. The Dual SIM model comes with two micro-SIM slots. However, the dual SIM model doesn't support 3G speeds on the second micro-SIM slot.
